John Alvin Driver, 69-year old resident of Burke, Virginia, passed away on 9 February 2015. He was born in Milstead, Georgia, on 4 April 1945. John graduated from Lakeshore High School, College Park, Georgia, and completed four years of college.


After serving 12 years in the United States Army, including two tours in Viet Nam and one in Germany, John received an honorable discharge, spent some time (some recuperative) in Alabama and South Georgia. He then gained employed in the Administrative Office of the Directorate of Resource Management (DRM), US Army Garrison,...

John Alvin Driver, 69-year old resident of Burke, Virginia, passed away on 9 February 2015. He was born in Milstead, Georgia, on 4 April 1945. John graduated from Lakeshore High School, College Park, Georgia, and completed four years of college.


After serving 12 years in the United States Army, including two tours in Viet Nam and one in Germany, John received an honorable discharge, spent some time (some recuperative) in Alabama and South Georgia. He then gained employed in the Administrative Office of the Directorate of Resource Management (DRM), US Army Garrison, Fort Belvoir, leading to an internship which culminated in a budget analyst position in the Budget Division of DRM, and retired from there after 20 years of Federal Service.


John was predeceased by two brothers (Charles R. and H. Alton Driver as well as parents, Homer and Lorina Driver. John is survived by sisters: Charlotte D. Norton of Fayetteville, Georgia; Brenda D. Freeman of Sharpsburg, Georgia; Linda D. Hamm (and her husband Wesley L Hamm) of Burke, Virginia; nieces/nephews: Marie Pinson of Douglasville, Georgia; Kelly Fierson of Griffin, Georgia; Stacey Brown; Cindy Reid; Rachel Bruckwicki all Georgia residents and Karen Tullis of New York; Nephew: Stephen Driver; Grand Nephews: David Brown, JD Davis and Logan Fierson, all of Georgia.


John may be viewed at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA, 22151, on Sunday, 22 February 2015 from 1-4 pm. He will be interned at College Park Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia the following week.
